Sometime after James and Ellen were married, they bought the James Maxwell farm near Belgrade which adjoined the Dennis Sullivan farm, both being on the old Webster Road. Jimmy and his second wife, Ellen, are buried in a double grave having died one day apart.

Thomas and Sarah lived in Dixon, Missouri for most of his adult life. He worked for the Pinkerton Company as a railroad detective for many years. While working, he carried a hawthorn cane topped with a section of deer antler and wore a black derby hat, both badges of office. When he retired from the railroad, he gave his cane to John Thomas Lucas, who kept it the remainder of his life. The cane is now in possession of Ralph Weeks Lucas, author of this article. Thomas also served as sheriff of Pulaski County for a number of years.
The 1910 census shows his wife's name as Jennie which may have been a nickname for Sarah Jane.
From the book: Tombstone Inscriptions of Pulaski County, MO. Dixon Cemetery: Thomas V. and Sarah J. Imboden are buried here and share the same tombstone. Thomas's says: Imboden, Thomas V. 1849-1929 and Sarah's says: Imboden, Sarah J. 1845-1931. Other articles say Thomas died in 1933. The difference in dates is not uncommon in genealogy research. One of his descendants sent me a picture of his tombstone which shows he died in 1933.

be with her two older brothers, James and John.
She married Francis Marion Bell
on September 12, 1888 (becoming Belle Bell). They had three children William

Belle was again widowed at the
age of 34, spring of 1898, when Francis Bell took his own life after being
bedridden with "miner's consumption." She moved her children to Fishtail
Montana to live with her brother John Coppedge and later homesteaded land just
south of her brother's land. She later sold the ranch about 1925. In failing
health, she moved to live with her daughter Lily in Columbus, MT about 1937.
She was bedridden about 3 years before dying."

Joseph's nephew, Ervin Isbell,
born June 1891 in the Indian Territory was living here at the time of the 1900
census. I found no other listing of this name and do not know who his parents
were. This census also shows Teed's wife's name as Josie, probably a nickname
for Josephine. The Bellevue article spelled it Jose although spelling of names
should not be taken literally.
According to Mr. Ralph Lucas in
his Bellevue article, Teed had only four children, Ed, Grace and two who died in
infancy. The 1880, 1900 and 1910 census records show two sons, John and Ralph.
Either Teed had six children or Mr. Lucas was wrong about two of them dying in
infancy.
The 1920 census shows a
grandson Cecil Miller age 14 living in this household. His wife is not shown in
this census.

Hays about 1905 but the 1920 census also shows a grandson, Cecil Miller, age 14, living here who would have been born about 1906. Grace was the only female child. There are a few questions here.

Benjamin's second wife, Sarah, was married previous to their marriage. The 1900 soundex shows her name as Susan and the 1910 soundex shows her name as Sue. These are apparently nicknames since the Bellvue article gives her name as Sarah. The 1900 soundex gives the names of her two children from her previous marriage, Mark Gillette born January 1889 and Kirk Gillette born January 1889, twins born in Arkansas. Frank and his first wife are buried in Dixon, Missouri.

Columbus Imboden, with his wife and first five children, loaded their possessions into a covered wagon and moved from Missouri westward to the Oklahoma Territory in 1893 to what is now Greer County Oklahoma. They settled on a farm about a half mile north of the intersection of two highways between Mangum and Granite, Oklahoma often referred to by locals as the "Y". He lived on this farm until he died. His son, Robert, ran the farm afterwards until about 1951. When they moved to Granite, we found some old letters stored in the basement addressed to them in Mangum, Oklahoma Territory, Mangum, Texas and Mangum, Oklahoma. This part of OK was once considered part of Texas. I have only vague recollection of him as a frail old man but it was men like him who carved a new world out of the wilderness. I was about eight years old when he died. I remember my granddad often telling stories about a Lum but I never knew who he was talking about until I started doing genealogy. He and his wife Martha are both buried in Rock Cemetery located a few miles west of Granite, Oklahoma. His wife was the sister of Lee D. Love who married Eliza Ann Imboden. My father remembered meeting some of their children when he was younger.

Information from Lee's great
granddaughter, Judy Germann, indicates his wife, Elizabeth Ann, was shown in
their family records as Eliza Annie which is possibly a nickname and would not
be uncommon at the time.
Eliza was a school teacher and
her husband Lee served a number of years as Judge of the Maries County Court.
The Bellevue article listed Anna's children but gave no birth dates. The
youngest daughter, Gladys was not shown. The sons Ray and Roy were twins who
died at birth.

Lee was a brother of Martha Love, Columbus Imboden's wife. My father had gone to Missouri for a visit at least once when he was a child and had known Lee's children. While he remembered doing this, he did not remember enough to supply any details on this family. Elizabeth Ann IMBODEN and Lee Davis LOVE had the following children:

Information in the Bellview
book and information sent to me by family indicated Albertin never married and
lived with his parents until their death. A genealogy report sent to me by
Melissa Blankenship, maybe completed by Michael Gray, both descendants of
Albertin, indicates Albertin was married and had a long family line. This
eliminates one of those things which never seemed to be correct in my mind as
most people were married at this time.
He was enumerated with his
family in the 1900 census but no family for him is shown. The name in the
census is shown as Berton, not Albertin, but the birth dates are the same. I
have also found his name spelled Alberten in many places. For what ever reason,
he and his family do not show up in the 1890 or 1910 census.
Information from a family Bible
which has been handed down over the years was sent to me by Gloria Smith,
another descendant of Albertin. Her mother is now in possession of that Bible.
Many of the names shown here are shown in that Bible. She has furnished a lot
more specific information about the descendants of Albertin. It is not know if
Albertin was actually married.
The 1920 census lists an A. L.
Imboden at age 60 lining in Maries county MO. I believe this has to be Albertin.
Again, there is no wife listed and simply says two daughters were living there.
No names or other information was given about those daughters.

George owned half interest in
the farm after his mother died. His sister, Johnnie owned the other half. In
1888 George sold his half to Dr. W.J. Hatcher, Johnnies husband at the time, and
bought a farm on Eleven Point River, five miles above Birdell. They lived there
about 15 years, then sold out and move to Frederick, OK where he died several
years later. Some of his children were still in Oklahoma in
1944 at time the Centennial article was written. The article in
Goodspeed indicates that only five of the six children survived.
Some time shortly after moving
to Dallas, Texas in 1962, I was asked if I knew a man with the first name of
Imboden, George's son Imboden, is probably who they were talking about and
may have lived in this area then.

Dr. Hatcher graduated from Vanderbilt Medical College and came to Arkansas in 1872. He located in Old Jackson, twos mile north of here (Imboden, AR) which was a thriving village at that time. The Hatchers moved to Imboden, AR. in 1888 and in 1892, built and moved into the present family residence, which is still in a good state of preservation (1944). Dr. and Mrs Hatcher had nine children. Two died in infancy. When Johnnie died in 1944, she was survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. From the Lawrence County Historical Quarterly, "Dr. J.O. Hatcher was born in 1878. Receiving his early education at Imboden, he entered Vanderbilt Medical School, as had his father. At age 23, he graduated as an honor student from that university in 1901. He returned to Imboden to practice his early years in medicine. In later years, he moved to Deming, New Mexico where he had a successful practice including a staff position at the Deming Hospital. His body was returned to his hometown for burial after his death in his adopted state, June 26, 1931."

Franklin is mentioned in the
Arkansas Lose Probate Papers and in the Imboden Arkansas Centennial article.
When his father Benjamin F. died, his mother moved back to Washington Co. MO.
taking Franklin with her. The only other information I was able to find was a
Frank L (Lynn) Imboden living in Kansas in 1900 and born in Arkansas in 1859. It
appears Franklin was a slow talking person and when the census taker asked his
name, he mistaken the drawl as two names, Frank Lynn.

Cooper Dawson - "After his fathers death, Franklin and his mother rode horse
back to her home in Missouri where he grew to manhood. After he and Zelia had
been married a couple of years, they moved to Ford County, Kansas and endured
the hardships of pioneer life--including droughts and a cyclone. After
attaining success, his health began to fail and in 1910 they moved to
Mountainair, Torrance County, New Mexico. He never regained his health and in a
final search for a "good climate", he and Zelia boarded a train traveling
north. He died on that train! The conductor wanted to put her and the body off
at the first little town but Zelia, a very strong woman, said "NO." Somehow she
was permitted to continue on to Wheatland, Wyoming where there was a mortuary.
After the body was embalmed, Zelia brought it back to Mountainair. Franklin and
Zelia are buried in the cemetery west of Mountainair."
It is also noted from
information sent to me by Kathleen McGrady from research by Virginia Evelyn
Cooper Dawson that Zelia's father and grandfather both died on the same date in
1886.

The 1920 census shows Jacob as a lodger in Ranger TX and shows he was born in NC. The marriage license for Jacob and his first wife, Lelia, also shows he was born in NC.
The marriage license for Jacob and Annie shows his age as 36 and her age as 38. Based on other information, Jacob should have been 31 and Annie 33 at the time.

Jacob Thomas (Jake) IMBODEN and Lelia V. MATTHEWS were married on Jun 16, 1909 in Lewis Co, WV. This is the date of the marriage license not the marriage certificate. Lelia V. MATTHEWS (daughter of William J. MATTHEWS and Sarah Ann WARD) was born about 1881 in Lewis Co, WV.14 She was listed as a sister in the census in Jun 1910 taken in Lewis Co, WV. She died about 1913 in an unknown location.
The names of Lelia's
parents were not shown in the marriage license for her and Jacob. The parents
shown here came from a marriage license in Lewis Co, WV where the dates fit for
her parents. The difference in the ages of William and Sarah indicates that
Sarah could be a stepmother.
Lelia was enumerated in
the 1910 census along with her son living with John T. Matthews as a sister and
her son as a nephew. She is not shown in the 1920 census but her son was still
living with his uncle. Jacob remarried in 1915 and the marriage license shows
him as a widower. It appears Lelia died between 1910 and 1915.

Information sent to me by David's niece, Michelle Stump, indicates that David was married but she did not have his wife's name. She said David's wife died young of ovarian cancer and they had no children. She also said there were rumors that he did have children from another relationship but has not found any information. This was sent to me in October 2006 by a Mr. J. Neely. I ran across your Imboden Family Tree website while researching a particular invention of Isaac C. Imboden. You may be interested to know that I.C. Imboden invented and patented a "Combined mop head and wringer" and was issued patent #1,045,032 by the US Patent Office on November 19, 1912. The mop head was manufactured by the I.C. Imboden Mfg. Co., Lebanon, PA.
This patent number can be found on the PTO website but I could not view it without installing a special plug-in in my browser which I did not want to do, Marvin.

She was born January 24, 1914 to the late Walter and Mamie Barry Imboden in Lebanon. She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Lebanon. She worked at Logan's Department Store as a clerk. She enjoyed yard work, crafts and loved her animals. She also sang in her church choir. Surviving are cousins Gloria G. spouse of Howard Gingrich of Palmyra, Joan Minora of Scranton, Jean of Florida. She was preceded in death by husband Glenn W. Wilson (2/4/1977), cousins Grace Stickler and Luella Babb. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
