First Generation
1. Edgar Roan MCCURDY was born on Sep 17, 1897 in Blair, Jackson Co, OK.1 He died on Jan 13, 1972 in Granite, Greer Co, OK.1
The information on this family was provided by my aunt Shirley, second child of Ed. The McCurdys had a sandy land farm about 5 or 6 miles north of Granite, Ok. on the east side of the highway when I was in high school. While I did visit them several times, I don't remember to much about them but I do remember he raised watermelons and peanuts. There was more than one summer night while in high school that one or more of these melons would jump in my car while passing his farm. We would of course have to eat them so they wouldn't go to waste. In reality, he told me he really didn't mind us getting one or two melons occasionally as long as we did not damage the vines or break them open in the field. I remember a time or two sharing our plunder with the town marshal.
I did know most of his children. The youngest, Eddie "John", graduated from high school in 1958, the year before I did.
Edgar Roan MCCURDY and Virgie Mae HUNT were married on May 24, 1918 in Jackson Co, OK.1 Virgie Mae HUNT was born on May 24, 1897 in Hunt Co, TX.1 She died on Oct 9, 1983 in Mangum, Greer Co, OK.1 Edgar Roan MCCURDY and Virgie Mae HUNT had the following children:
i. Shelia MCCURDY was born on Sep 30, 1919 in Blair, Jackson Co, OK.1 She died on Jul 7, 1920 in Blair, Jackson Co, OK.1

Shirley Edna MCCURDY and Curtis Lee IMBODEN were married on Jun 27, 1942 in Wichita, Sedgwick Co, KS.1 Curtis Lee IMBODEN (son of Robert Lee IMBODEN and Ora Esther (Kid) CURTIS) was born on Sep 28, 1919 in Greer Co, OK.1 He was listed as a son in the census in Jan 1920 taken in Mangum, Greer Co, OK. He was listed as a son in the census in Apr 1930 taken in Mangum, Greer Co, OK. He died in 2001 in Westminster, Orange Co, CA.1
Curtis served in the Army from 1940 to 1941. As indicated by the birth places of Curtis's children, they moved around some in the 1940's just like my parents. By the late 40's they had moved to Mangum, Oklahoma. His kids, my brother and sister, and I spent a lot of time together about this time. Sometime in the early 50's Curtis and his family moved to California. He worked as a sales engineer there and apparently made a comfortable living doing so. We visited them there a couple of times in the late 50's along with my grandparents. Picture if you will, four adults and three kids in an un-air conditioned car driving non-stop along the old Route 66. Shirley Edna MCCURDY and Curtis Lee IMBODEN had the following children:
i. David Lee IMBODEN, born on Jan 22, 1944, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co, OK1; married Doris Marie SWANSEN, on Jun 12, 1965, Las Vegas, Clark Co, NV1; married Cynthia (IMBODEN), after 1990, Canton, Stark Co, OH1.
ii. Edgar Roan IMBODEN was born on May 6, 1945 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co, OK.1 He died on May 6, 1945 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Co, OK.1 Edgar was still born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck.
iii. Robert Edd IMBODEN, born on Sep 23, 1947, Ardmore, Carter Co, OK1; married Anita Jeanne DRIGGS, on Sep 15, 1965, Orange Co, CA1.
iv. Kerran Ann IMBODEN, born on Oct 23, 1949, Mangum, Greer Co, OK1; married Gary Allan HARTUNG, on Apr 25, 1969, Compton, Orange Co, CA1.
3. Joyce Fern MCCURDY (Edgar Roan-1) was born on Mar 24, 1923 in Blair, Jackson Co, OK.1
Joyce Fern MCCURDY and William A. MANNING were married about 1943 in Lake Creek, Greer Co, OK.1 William A. MANNING was born about 1922 in Argentina.1
Joyce and her husband, William, stopped by our home in Granite, OK to visit us about 1956. I would have been about 15 at the time. Even as a kid I found it very interesting talking to someone born and raised in another country. Maybe that is why in today's world at age 67 I have enjoyed talking to many people from around the world, some of who have been close friends. Marvin Imboden - 2009.

My aunt Shirley spelled this name as Glenna. I believe this was a typing error as I seem to remember her name being Glenda. Maybe that was simply the name she went by.
